11 months: 1 Years Old Birthday Party

The power of prayers... The day started with looming black clouds with a 85% chance of rain by the weather station. I prayed so fervently for no rain. What am i to do if it rains, i have no back up plans at all... And so give thanks to God. It was perfect weather by the time for the party to start.

The day started at 10 am, when dad went to decorate BBQ pit 3. 11 AM, mummy rushed down to Turf City to have the balloons heliumed. Meanwhile Andre played his part by recharging his batteries.

Goodie bags for the kids and the adults.

The decorated place.

12 pm sharp: The cake came, so did the caterer. Food was poor (Damn! i should not have followed my instincts and not gone for a poor food caterer). Do note here, once and for all, no more business for Melrose Catering. But the Cake was truly MAGICAL.

Guests startedpouring in after 12:45pm and the fun began. The last guest arrived at 1:30pm,and we started the cake cutting ceremony. Andre was all cooperative and beaming away. Everyone awed at the cake with baby Mickey flying gallantly on top of the cake. Pine garden really did a good job, addingthe catepillars, apple trees, 3D butterfles, bees, making it the dream garden cake i was thinking off. The conceptual design using ppt was all worthed it.

The charming birthday boy in his new birthday ride. Thanks Dua Yi! Can see that he did not want to get out of it.

Later, at the playground with Tiffy and Vic

(Oops, added one picture here by mistake...But nevertheless, this pic was taken at the full month party? See the long way we came along? Good job to both dad and mum)
After singing, Andre swiftly took the knife and cut the cake. (He must be wondering, hey, how come no one is stopping me?) All by himself, much to the amusement of the crowd. Of course, the in the process, fresh butter cream was swatted to all around him.
The cake that Andre cut.
Immediately following cake cutting, is the segment where baby picks his future. We lay out the following items:
1. Stethoscope (Doctor)
2. Hammer (Judge)
3. Calculator (Accountant)
4. Drumstick (Food Gourmet)
5. Gun (Policeman)
6. House (Property)
7.Ball (Sportsman as in Andre Agassi)
8.Measuring Tape (Fashion designer)
9. Frying Slice (Chef)
10. Pen (Writer)
11. Tang Shi 300 (Academic/Scholar)
Andre enthusiastically picked the calculator first with faint interest with the stethoscope. Uncle Chris says we need to have repeatability. And so we repeated the test. Andre picked the ball and flinged it aside. Drumstick was tossed onto the floor. Gun shoved aside. And he picked the calculator again!
2.30 pm: Half time. Our little future accountant went up for a change in clothes, diaper and a dose of milk.
At 2:45 pm: we hit the pinata. Not as tough as i've expected and it broke after the children hit it a couple of times. All the kids (adults too), made a dash for the loot. Andre takes a chance too...

(Hey son, the toys are on the table now... stop looking at the box)

And this kind of rounds up Andre's first year celebration. Close, warm affair with our closest friends and relatives. A celebration of thanks to all who helped us along the way raising up our bundle of joy. Probably the next party will be when he is 4-5 years old, when he is older to understand and remember things.
