16 Weeks 3 Days: Where is the poo?

Andre has not pooed for the past 5 days already! My gosh, must be cooking a big pot of curry in his tummy now. Sigh, don't tell me i need to spend $45 at the PD to encourage him to poo.

16 Weeks 3 Days: I can touch my feet

Andre just found his feet. Practising 'sit and reach'... Must target and achieve the same results like Aunty Peichin , 80cm... That is one figure i never forget.

16 Weeks 4 Days: Bumbo

Trial sitting on the bumbo. Andre's head still drop forward pretty soon. Need more neck powerrrrrrrr!

15 Weeks 4 Days: New playmat

In view of the restrictive space on the bed and on the sofa, mummy decided to get a playmat so that Andre can play about. Andre's still not too good with his head, so mummy has to be on stand by in case he bang his head against the floor.
Andre's hair is still growing out in patches as seen in the 2nd pic. The little tuff of hair on top is sure cute, but mummy is hoping that Andre will outgrow this stage soon.

15 Weeks 4 Days: Suntec food court

Andre found it most comfortable to sit on the stroller with one leg out

15 Weeks 3 Days: Mummy is back to work

Mummy started work on the 20th of Jan. For the past 2 days, baby did fine.

We are trying to establish the following routine now
5 AM: Mummy wakes up to pump milk
5.45 AM: Mummy catches the 1st bus to work
7 AM: Daddy wakes up to give baby 1st feed
7.30 AM: Bathe Andre
8.30 AM: Leaves home to go po po's house
6.15 PM: Mummy reaches po po's place and leave next day's feed in the fridge
6.45-7 PM: Daddy picks mummy and Andre up
9 PM: Bedtime for Andre
11 PM: Bedtime for Mummy and Daddy

It has been extremely tiring so far, travelling to work and pumping milk. The initial first 2 days were tough, we got wailing baby, spilting of milk, forgot to bring this, forgot to bring that ... Hopefully, we'll fall into a rthymn soon and the energy picks up.

Meanwhile, mummy only has that precious 2-3 hours with Baby every evening. I doubt i will be able to upload photos as frequently as before already.

14 Weeks 3 Days

Andre's been a good kid nowadays and has learnt how to fall asleep by himself (i hope that i am not jinxing myself with this post... you know how some kids are like, but well, if they are good, they need to be praised right :)).

For the past 3 evenings, Kevin and I basically just tuck Andre to bed with the pacifier and kiss him goodnight. He'll lie there, eyes wide opened, and coax himself to sleep eventually. Sometimes he can even lie there all quiet for up to an hour! Nowadays as he sleeps fairly early, he'll wake up for a feed say 3-4 am. Even this is pretty fuss free. Feed, change his diaper, and leave him in the cot. Off the lights and Viola! Baby's asleep already.

What else can we ask for.

14 Weeks 2 Days: Andre's 100th day birthday

Whoa!!
Mummy sneaked in some tummy time just before bath.

Andre on po po's lap. See the Michelin baby?
Today is Andre's 100th day birthday. While this tradition is not typically celebrated in Singapore (the focus is more on the full month party), nevertheless we had a mini cake to celebrate baby's good health so far. Thank God!
Baby tried his first semi-solid food today. A morsel of cheesecake. Blech! >_<
the cake looks yummy! But what's the point? Not as if i'm going to be the one eating it.. hehe...
.. Nevertheless, a pretty cake is always nice to pose with ..

.. My favourite people :)

Daddy and Mummy presented a red packet to Andre for good health, happiness and all the good things we can think of.
Some 100th day birthday trivia:
1. Beak-il
Another birthday celebration is Baek-il or the 100th day celebration. During this celebration the family worships Samshin. They give her offerings of rice and soup for having cared for the infant and the mother, and for having helped them live through a difficult period. They give thanks to Samshin and they also pray for jae-ak (wealth), longevity, and cho-bok (original luck).
After the prayer the family, relatives and friends then celebrate with rice cakes, wine, and other delicacies such as red and black bean cakes sweetened with sugar or honey. In order to protect the child the red bean rice cakes were placed at the four compass points of the house. This did not only bring protection but was also believed to bring good fortune and happiness. It is widely believed by the Korean people
that if one hundred people shared the rice cakes the child will live a long life. So the family would also send rice cakes to neighbors and other folk. Those who receive rice cakes return the vessels with skeins of thread, expressing the hope of longevity, and rice and money, symbolizing future wealth.

2. Coincidentally, the 100th day of a child's birth is close to 1 year of baby's conception. So logically speaking, it is also celebration of the child's one year of life. How uncannily true cos the 1st day of my last period is on the 12th of January 2009; my egg was released 2 weeks later. (Although Andre's 100th day birthday is on the 14th Jan 2010, but then he was born 2 weeks earlier. If he was born on his EDD, it would be exactly 1 year!) Cool yah!

Last but not least, we need to mention that today also happened to be gong gong and po po's 43rd wedding anniversary! We wish gong gong and po po happiness, joy and love forever =)

14 Weeks 1 Day: Fun with Octopus

This is Po po's xmas present to Andre, a Lamaze Octopus. Each tentacle carries a different play feature and colour. There is furry arm, clicking starfish, plastic rings etc. See how ingeniously popo has hung up the octopus so that Andre can bat and play?
Andre is now more interactive when it comes to toys. The bright colours will capture his attention and he doesn't mind just playing by himself for a while, discovering the toy.

13 Weeks 6 Days: Flipping like a pancake

Andre woke up in an extremely happy mood. He was chuckling, cooing and super hyper. Suddenly, he started flipping and flipping. One direction only though. After he succeeded, can see the immense satisfaction in his face. His hand is trapped under his tummy though and needs 5-10 mins before he can free himself. Good job son!

Nowadays, Andre has learnt how to put stuff in his mouth. Anything that's in his hands will be smothered with his loving kisses and saliva! Geez..

13 Weeks 4 Days: 3 months check up

Andre went for his 3rd month check up and immunisation at Dr Ong's clinic today. I can't advocate more to go to a PD rather than the polyclinic after experiencing both. The immunisation prices are about the same. Only diff is you need to pay for Dr's consultation at the PD which is only $45. And the check up is so much more detailed and i could ask all the questions i want. At the polyclinic, although consultation is free, the Dr sees patients from age 0 to 88, and the waiting time is always so horrendous.

Anyway, Andre is 61 cm now and weights 6.490 kg. His length and weight is above the 50% of his age group. Looks like mummy's breast milk has been extremely nutritious :)

I like Dr Ong, she's really not like the typical Dr. I like her sense of humor, she's almost like a big kid.

Mummy: How much should Andre be taking now by bottle?
Dr Ong: 120-150 ml every 3-4 hourly
Mummy: Oh dear, i think daddy fed 260 ml the other day... :(
Dr Ong: No problem, babies like to go to the buffet occasionally

Dr Ong: How is baby pooing? color?
Mummy: Umm... it's yellow...
Dr Ong: The colour of my wall?
Mummy: YES! :)
Dr Ong: yea, i didn't realized i picked the color of baby's poo when i did my renovations.. oh well..

When Andre was taking the oral dosage, and whimpering away,
Dr Ong: Your baby cry no tears
*Mummy is alarmed hearing this; immediate thought is if anything is wrong with the eyes*
Dr Ong: Next time cannot be actor la. Actors need a lot of tears.

But jokes aside, we can see that Dr Ong is very skillful in handling the baby. Andre didn't fussed too much during the injection. I heard him screamed worse before. On the 3 months checklist, Andre faired very well. Stuff that babies should be doing at 3.5-4 months, he has already acquired the skills.

Now i'm trying to get him to flip like a pancake. He does occasionally turn to the side so he should be on his way. Tummy time is also more pleasant for him now.

So well, after $200 at the PD with 0 waiting time (I grabbed the 1st appt), mummy and daddy are relieved that baby is doing well. We are also glad that baby did not become feverish after the immunisation. I supposed mummy's breast milk did the trick again with all the anti-bodies.

13 Weeks 2 Days

It's a stormy morning... weather is chilly... and so little Andre put on his jacket and track pants

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

13 Weeks: Andre peed...

Po Po says must train Andre to pee at the sound of a whistle. And so throughout the day... Andre's diaper is taken out frequently for the training. It so happens that the diaper was removed at gong gong's desk, and Andre peed on invoice no. 1311. Hehe, thinking it's a sign, we went to buy all permutations and combi of this number. Too bad, we didn't strike.

Gues what's the ironical part? Po po asked gong gong to buy 2116 which is part of mummy's mobile number. The focus on 1311 was so much that gong gong forgot to buy po po's number. 2116 opened in consolation prize the next day :()

13 Weeks: Andre has a bank account

Andre has a bank account today! Mighty Savers from OCBC! Mummy put in the ang pow money collected from the full month celebration for him.

12 Weeks 6 Days: Training at Po po's place starts

Mummy is returning to work on Jan 20th. Starting from today, mummy brings Andre to Po po's place so that he can get use to the environment.

Mummy hopes to establish the following routine

6 am: Wake up
6.30 am: Drop off Daddy and Andre at po po's place
6.30 am - 9.00 am: 1st bath and feed
12.00 pm: 2nd feed
3.00 pm: 3rd feed
6.00 pm: Mummy returns for 4th feed
9.00 pm: 5th and last feed of the day. Wipe down.
10.00 pm: Bedtime

A bit idealistic ... so we just wish for the best! (and hope that Andre can conquer the bottle)
