100 days for Aiden

Didi turns 100 days today on Xmas eve.. The happy boy slept through pretty much of the day

But we had a little cake cutting in the evening to give Aiden our blessings and well wishes

Merry Xmas Eve

Dear Andre was so thrilled with the sounds coming from aiden's present that he ripped off the wrapping.. And seems like he will like didi's buddy robot more than his own present.

And the Xmas eve ended with Andre throwing up all over the bed from his cough. We had to change bedsheets, give him a thorough wash and refeed his milk. But seems like he felt much better cos he became chirpier and was in an angel mode.

Daddy: Andre, don't play anymore , go sleep.
Andre: Ok. Sleep with mummy..
Me: Ok. Let's go
Andre: Andre hold mummy hand (lol, this is an imitation from me cos I always tell him, hold tight tight, mummy hold yr hand)

Amidst the whiney terrible 2s which drives me nuts ( oh well, andre has to battle the sharing of attention with didi too), sometimes there is a ray of sunshine that warms the heart...

Last night andre slept with us as he is running a low grade fever..

Obediently he lied on the bed quietly (normally he flips around),

Mummy: Andre do you love mummy?
Andre: love mummy...

A short while later
Andre: Mummy..
Me: yes..
Andre: goodnight

3 months jab

At 3 months 2 days, Aiden goes for his schedule vaccinations. I think its a 5-in-1 and a rotavirus. To be frank, i am still so confused about these vaccinations that i just leave everything to dear Dr Ong.

Aiden weighs 8 kg (7.990 kg to be exact). Height 64 cm. Head 41.5 cm.
In all aspects, he is beyond the 97%. What a stark difference from the brother. But in all, Aiden is healthy (Really have to thank God for taking care of us) and a happy boy. When the Dr jab his thigh, he did not even winch or cry. Good job Aiden. And he lap up the rotavirus oral vaccination. Dr Ong commented that he has a sweet tooth. haha .. what tooth? perhaps sweet gums.

Dr ong says to hold on the weaning otherwise didi will pong even faster. (Whoppee! i so hate the cooking and mashing). But to introduce didi to more water. No diet need as yet, but bigger babies tend to show slower in motor skills.

Just love my smiley smiley baby.

26 months..

Little rascal favorite line nowadays.. " Omg, everybody". Now where did he learn that from?

He's getting so much better with his English..making full sentences saying his likes, dislikes, what he wants "no, I want blue shirt". "I want iPad" "love mummy" and the infamous one "I want to go popo place" which he'll plead every morning before childcare drop off. He's eloquent enough to negotiate.

He's also thinking before he replies. If he's happy, he'll go "OK" with resounding enthusiasm. If it's a politically sensitive one like "do u like school? Or shall we go school tomorrow?".. He'll either keep quiet or murmur softly about wanting to go grandma's place.

But his Chinese still cannot make it.

3 months

Aiden is 7.8 kg at 3 months :)

He is a very smiley baby... Just talk to him, he'll respond with chuckles, smiles, coos. Very heartwarming, n always can't wait to reach out to give him a tight squeeze. He is a very social baby, likes it best when people talk to him

Aiden wins first baby contest

It is the gathering of the Sep 11 mums and Aiden won the best chrismassy dude baby award.. Cool huh :)

But mummy is so tired after the party. We reached home at 4 pm, and I had to deal with a cranky Andre, tired Aiden and grouchy daddy

Childcare

It was madness in the changes in our lifestyle. Aunty Yuli suddenly drop a bombshell to say that she is leaving, but a ray of sunshine emerged amidst the clouds. Learning Vision at Gentle Road (our most desire childcare) called to say they have a vacancy.

We had no other better options but to send Andre to full time child care when i return back to work. Firstly, po po is already 70 and to look after 7 grandkids is really too much to ask. Secondly, the new helper is such a newbie and can hardly cope with the baby, let alone cope with another toddler. To be fair, even for an experienced helper, handling a baby and terrible 2 toddler is impossible.Thirdly, we have heard plentiful of testimonials that says the child improves by leaps and bounds in child care, especially in speech development (not that i worry about Andre as he is babbling a fair bit). Downside to childcare is the separation anxiety of the child (read PLENTY of crying) and also the child is more prone to illneses.

As such, we decided to start child care on 1st Dec. As i had one more month of maternity leave, i can be on standby anytime for any emergencies. 1st day: i stayed with Andre for half a day, accompanying him in the new environment. Can see that he is very skeptical. Yummy chicken rice with mixed vegetables is served. Andre ate 2 mouths. I was already amazed cos previously he ate very marshy food only. Though he didn't have a lot, i was determined to let him starve till dinner. So that he knows if he skips lunch, he wouldn't have more food till dinner. 2nd day: I decided to take the plunge, after getting Andre indulge with some toys, i told him i will be out and pick him up in the afternoon. One hour later, i heard him cry. And the teachers feedback that he vomitted. But it wasn't bad as he stopped after 10-15 minutes. He refuse to let the teacher bathe him, but diaper change was ok. 3rd day happens to fall on a monday. I took the 2nd day approach. However, i got too hungry, so i went to United Square for a quick bite and to get a toy to praise Andre for his courage. When i returned, teacher showed me picture of Andre asleep at 1 pm. (WOW!, doesn't really seem like my boy), and so i went home, but instructed dad to pick Andre up at 5 pm sharp. Andre is thrilled with the Cars wooden race cars. 4th day, Andre is pretty much by himself already. Teacher Siti says that Andre is one of the easiest child that assimilated into the child care environment. Seems like he has been in school before. But well, its only the 1-1/2 hours twice weekly zoophonics with helper accompainment, so i conclude that Andre is a pretty courageous boy with an independent streak. He may not have a very outgoing and loud personality, but in challenging situations, he has the self-control to control his fear. Self-control is a very desirable trait for survival. This makes me even more proud of my son.

But as the days goes by, i can see that the fact that child care is permanent and routine is sinking into him. We get bouts of tantrums and crying and pleading to go po po's place instead. This only happens during the drop off and Andre manages to settle himself in a short while. As parents, though it is tough, for the good of the child, we need to be firm in our decision. And to support the emotional needs as much as we can.
