19 Weeks 4 Days: 4th month 5-in-1 jab

Visit to the PD was good today, mummy got all her 101 questions answered.

1. For the past 3 weeks, Andre has not put on any weight and height growth is slow. From an above average kid, he is now at the 50th percentile. Andre's not pooing very much too despite taking an average of 150ml x 5 feeds a day. Seeing the situation, Dr Ong says that these are the signs that we should start weaning. He's probably absorbing all the nutrients from his breast milk feed so there's not much remaining to poo poo. We can probably feed more milk but it's unlikely Andre will take much more. So at 4-1/2 month old, Andre's going to start his gourmet meal of rice cereal tomorrow.

2. Need to put the jumperoo and exersaucer on hold at the moment. Dr Ong finds that Andre's legs are kinda bowed and that he's not ready for these toys yet.

3. Hair growth. Umm.. Dr Ong says it's ok for babies to stay relatively bald up to 1 years old. Amount of hair is determined by genetics. How true! cos when i went to dig up some pictures of daddy tonight, it's obvious dad also had a prominent tuft of hair at the center. Hehe, my China boys...

Meanwhile, she said that we can encourage hair growth by lotsa massage, brandy or olive oil are all ok. Other than these, Andre's pretty good. He only yelped out a little during the jab. Next visit will be in a month's time.
